Mary (Schmirler) ScherzbergÂ’95

MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame

To excel in one sport is a difficult task, but to excel in three sports and make the Dean's List each quarter is nearly impossible. But Mary Scherzberg did just that, playing softball 1992-1995, volleyball 1991-1994 and basketball 1991-1994.

A woman of incomprehensible feats, Scherzberg was the first MSOE athlete to be named Most Valuable Player in three sports in a single academic year (1992-1993); when she spiked her way to volleyball success in the fall, dribbled her way through winter on the basketball team and closed out the spring season on the softball diamond.

Scherzberg's athleticism and leadership led to her captain stature and All-Conference selection in volleyball for the three seasons and team MVP for four seasons. She also earned All-District, All-Conference and two-time MVP distinctions for softball.
