Michael Brimer

MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame

Michael Brimer was a precedent setting athlete in many ways, and he is honored as the first men's tennis player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.  A four year letter-winner and skilled athlete in both tennis and soccer, Brimer's collegiate tennis career is especially remarkable.  A multiple conference championship winner, Brimer was a powerful force on the court.  He was undefeated in conference singles play all four seasons, a Lake Michigan Conference number one doubles champion for four consecutive years, a conference number one singles champion his sophomore, junior and senior seasons and an LMC number two singles champion his freshman year.  Brimer received All-Conference singles and doubles recognition all four years of his tennis career as a Raider and was selected team MVP his freshman and junior seasons.

Brimer was a founding member of the men's varsity tennis team his freshman year, and he is credited as being a major factor in the programs success in the mid-1990's.  As captain his sophomore, junior and senior years, the team went undefeated in conference head-to-head match play from 1994-1998, and under Brimer's leadership his junior year the team dominated the competition, sweeping all conference championship matches.

A defender and midfielder in soccer, Brimer held the role of team captain his freshman, sophomore and junior years.  A motivational and strong leader, Brimer helped to build the soccer program of the early 1990's to the winning program it became by his senior year.  After graduation, Brimer continued his leadership role as a men's soccer assistant coach.

Michael Brimer's outstanding accomplishments, leadership and dedication to MSOE athletics advanced the men's tennis and soccer programs to elevated levels of competition and recognition.
