MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame
Under Peterson's guidance as athletic director from 1984 to 1995, the Athletic Department experienced a tremendous period of growth. He brought his direction and vision to a department with five NAIA varsity sports, and transformed it into 14 NCAA teams. In addition to the new sporting outlets given to male athletes, Peterson can be credited with the emergence of women's athletics at MSOE.
As basketball coach from 1980 to 1983 and 1984 to 1995, Peterson's love for the game is unmatched. In 1982, he led MSOE to an undefeated conference season, earning him Conference Coach of the Year honors. Under his guidance, he produced MSOE's first and second All-Americans in Jeff Brezovar and Brian Geurts. Peterson's dedication to MSOE athletics continued with his involvement on committees and with alumni functions.
