MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame
Ryan Moren's talent, skill and achievements have established him as one of the most accomplished hockey players to wear a Raiders uniform in the program's history. A consummate offensive defenseman, Moren shattered Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association conference records, finishing his collegiate athletic career first in three categories, with 31 goals, 51 assists and 82 points, reigning as one of the MCHA's All-Time Leading Scoring Defenseman. A member of MSOE's elite 100 point club, Moren's career statistics including non-conference games is unrivaled, with a remarkable 43 goals, 85 assists and 128 total points.
An imposing force on the ice, Moren was selected First team All-Conference all four years and to the MCHA All-Tournament team his freshman, sophomore and senior seasons. At the peak of his college career his junior and senior seasons, Moren was recognized as the MCHA Player of the Year both years, a paramount achievement. He was a strong leader of his teammates both as the team captain his sophomore, junior and senior seasons and by example, being named team MVP his sophomore and senior years and Team Defensive Player as a sophomore and senior.
Moren was equally adept academically as he was athletically. A model student-athlete, his dedication and hard work ethic on the ice and in the classroom earned him a place on the MCHA All-Academic team all four years and he was selected Scholar-Athlete his freshman, sophomore and senior seasons. Moren was also awarded the prestigious MSOE Senior Scholar-Athlete award, the university's highest honor recognizing athletic and academic achievement.
Moren continued to make Raiders hockey history after graduation, becoming the first alumnus ever to sign a professional sports contract and the first to play professional hockey. His remarkable accomplishments are major factors in building the MSOE hockey program to its nationally ranked status. Ryan Moren is truly an example of the dedication, strength and excellence of an MSOE student-athlete.
