MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame
A four-year letter-winner in both basketball and
volleyball, Stephanie Johnson was a predominant leader and record setter in
MSOE athletics. Already a 1,000 point scorer in basketball by her junior
season, Johnson was also the Team Leading Rebounder, was honored with the
Team Defensive Leadership award during her junior and senior seasons, and was
the Team Kill Leader in volleyball. One of the most accurate free throw
shooters in women's basketball, Johnson scored the best team free throw
percentage during her sophomore year. Johnson led her team not only in
statistics, but she also acted as team captain in both sports her junior and
senior seasons.
Johnson received numerous honors for her athletic accomplishments, including All-Conference designations in basketball for four consecutive seasons and in volleyball her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was a Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Week selection in each sport, was chosen as her volleyball team MVP as a sophomore, and Senior Scholar Athlete for the class of 2000 in recognition of her outstanding academic and athletic achievements.
Johnson's exceptional skill and dedication made her an ideal candidate for tournament teams. She was chosen for the Carthage College All-Tournament team in volleyball, the Rose Hulman and Trinity All-Tournament teams in basketball her junior season and, for the same sport, the Lake Forest All-Tournament team during her senior year. Johnson's athletic and academic record exemplifies the pride, commitment and strength of MSOE athletics.
