MSOE picked to finish fourth in NAC women's soccer preseason coaches' poll


WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Raiders have been selected to finish fourth in the Northern Athletics Conference according to the 2011 women's soccer preseason coaches' poll. MSOE received one first-place vote and 132 total votes.

Last season, MSOE finished 8-2-2 in the NAC with an 11-7-2 overall mark. Their record in conference was the best in school history. The Raiders won six straight matches during last September. MSOE returns eight seniors in addition to a number of other experienced players.

Aurora was picked to win the conference as they received 11 of 13 first-place votes. The Spartans were 11-0-1 last year in the NAC.

The Raiders open up their season Labor Day weekend against Principia (Sept. 3) and Webster (Sept. 4) in St. Louis, Mo. The first NAC match for MSOE is Sept. 6 against Concordia-Chicago at Time Warner Cable Stadium in Milwaukee. The NAC Tournament begins Oct. 29 and the final is set for Nov. 5. The winner of that match receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
