MSOE men's volleyball takes out Thiel and Mount St. Joseph in conference action


The Raiders beat both Thiel and Mount St. Joseph in three games Saturday in Kenosha, Wis. in Midwest-III Volleyball Conference action. MSOE knocked off Thiel 27-25, 27-25 and 25-23 then defeated Mount St. Joseph 25-8, 25-15 and 25-7. Against Mount St. Joseph, sophomore David Johnson had a hitting percentage of .846 as he recorded 12 kills and five blocks. Sophmore Jack Geary logged 11 kills with a hitting mark of .769 and also had three service errors.

In game three against Mount St. Joseph, the Raiders hit .714 and had a hitting percentage of .471 for the match. Freshman setter Matt Morrone recorded 38 assists. Senior Mitch Paulus hit .667 with eight kills.

Junior Max Martin led the way against Thiel with 13 kills and ten digs for a double-double to go along with five blocks. Sophomore Alex Harbour had 12 kills, four digs and three blocks. Freshman setter Josh Avery ended up with 40 assists while sophomore libero John Cote led MSOE with 14 digs. Geary paced the Raiders with six blocks.

MSOE (9-10, 5-1 M3VC) faces Fontbonne in Kenosha, Wis. Sunday at 2 p.m. to finish their M3VC Crossover weekend.
