No. 15 Raiders edge Lake Forest 3-2 in opener of MCHA Quarterfinals

The MSOE hockey team took a 3-0 lead against Lake Forest Saturday night and held on to win 3-2 in the first game of the MCHA Quarterfinal series at the Kern Center in Milwaukee.

Sophomore forward Kevin LoGuidice gave the Raiders a 1-0 advantage at the 2:22 of the first period. Later in the first, senior forward Jordan Keizer made it 2-0 MSOE with his 16th goal of the season. With the Raiders on a power play in the second period, junior defenseman Michael Thompson rifled a shot from the blue line that sniped the top corner of the goal and fell in the back of the net.

The Foresters scored once in the second and again in the third but could not get the equalizer. Freshman goalie Nick Kohn made 36 saves in the victory. Senior defenseman Carl Lindblad logged three assists on the night.

MSOE (16-8-2) hosts Lake Forest Sunday at 2 p.m. to determine who advances to the Harris Cup Four.
