Logan Bauman earns MCHA weekly honor, Raiders move to No. 11 in national poll


MSOE freshman defenseman Logan Bauman has been named Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week for his performance during the team's weekend sweep of Lake Forest. The Raiders now stand at No. 11 in the United States Collegiate Hockey Online (USCHO.com) Division III national poll. MSOE knocked off the Foresters 9-3 Friday night then won 4-3 on the road Saturday night. Bauman recorded five assists in the two games. Senior goalie Connor Toomey made 25 saves in Saturday's game to record his 50th career win. 

This weekend, the Raiders head to Minnesota for a pair of non-conferences games. Friday, MSOE faces Saint John's at 7 p.m. then plays Bethel Saturday at 4 p.m.

Nationally, Bauman is in the lead for points among defenseman with 13 on the year. Freshman forward Cole Gibson is third in points per game (1.5) among all rookies in Division III. Junior forward Jordan Keizer leads the country with three short-handed goals.
