MSOE Men’s Soccer regionally ranked

In the October 16 edition of the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Coaches Poll, The MSOE Raiders were ranked tenth in the central region for the second week in a row.

MSOE (12-4, 7-2 Northern Athletics Conference) went 1-1 for the week, a 1-0 last minute win over Edgewood and a 2-1 loss to the sixth ranked team in the nation, Dominican University.

In the Edgewood win, with just under a minute remaining in the game, MSOE capitalized on a blocked shot by Edgewood’s goalkeeper Matt Dammen, who deflected the ball, but the Raiders Brock Schilling was there to bury the rebounded ball into the net and claim the victory for the Raiders.

In the 2-1 Dominican loss on Saturday at Time Warner Stadium, the Raiders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute of play on a goal by Drew Porter off a pass from Jordan Werner. This was the first and only time all season a conference team had a lead on the national power. The Stars came back to score two goals of their own to secure the win.

The Raiders are also coming off a 6-2 rout of Lakeland, Tuesday night. MSOE returns to action on Saturday, facing conference for Benedictine University at Time Warner Cable Stadium. Game time is slated for 1:00p.m.
