No. 12 MSOE hockey again secures Lake Michigan Cup win with over Concordia-Wisconsin


Five different Raiders scored as No. 12 MSOE defeated Concordia-Wisconsin 5-1 Friday night at the Kern Center in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association action. The victory means that the Raiders will hold the Lake Michigan Cup for the fifth straight season which goes to the winner of the season series between the two teams. 

The Falcons started the scoring with a power play goal from Shay Klitzke at the 4:00 mark of the first period. MSOE answered with two goals in that period. Sophomore forward Steven Shaffroth found the back of the net from senior forward Kyle Smith and sophomore forward Austin Grosvenor at 10:34 and senior defenseman Ryno Linder was set up by senior forward Todd Krupa and sophomore forward West Bauman at 15:41. Linder's goal ended up being the game-winning tally.

The lone goal in the second period was recorded by Krupa from junior forward Mike Pao and West Bauman. In the third period, freshman forward Cole Gibson reached double figures in goals on the year at the 13:03 mark from freshman forward Josh Keizer and junior forward Jordan Keizer. Then it was Jordan Keizer from Josh Keizer and Gibson less than two minutes later.

Senior goalie Connor Toomey made 27 saves to earn his 56th career victory and 14th on the year. The Raiders (14-5-1, 11-3-1 MCHA) head to Mequon, Wis. to play the Falcons at the Ozaukee Ice Center Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
