MSOE Rowing Continues It's Dominance
MSOE Rowing traveled to Ypsilanti, MI to race on Ford Lake for the 2013 MACRA's (Mid-American Collegiate Rowing Association). As usual, the team would be in a battle against some of the larger powerhouse programs such as; Iowa, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Michigan. A similar storyline unfolded where MSOE challenged (and won) the top spot in almost all the races they entered. Below are some of the highlights.
-
The Lightweight Varsity 4 took first in their race by 9 seconds and won the Jim Buckalew Cup for the second consecutive year. The crew was Jon Allen(stroke), Ben Lang, Luke Engebretson, Mike Dorus, and Liz Kelnhofer(coxswain)
-
The Varsity 4+ took first in their race, .8 seconds over Michigan, and won the Judson Ross Cup for the first time. That crew was Devin Dolby(stroke), Matt Foster, Tom Woodard, Tim Urbas, and Rebecca Majewski(coxswain)
- The Novice 4+ A boat took second in their race, losing to Grand Valley by 1 second. The crew was Finn Finucane (stroke), Garrett Hoeg, Alan Stuna, and Caleb Vredenbregt with Coxswain Cameron St. Clair. This was MSOE’s highest finish in the Don Rose Cup ever.
