MSOE women's basketball beats Aurora to set school record for wins

The Raiders went on a 12-0 late in the second half to beat Aurora 58-47 Tuesday night on the road in Northern Athletics Conference action. The victory sets a new MSOE record for wins (14) in a season and also gives the Raiders the most conference wins (11) they have ever had in a year.
Senior center Carol Cayo recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Cayo entered the week 15th in the nation in double-doubles. She also had six assists and two steals. Senior guard Marguerite Wellstein scored 14 points, grabbed five points and logged four assists. Junior forward Shannon Larson and freshman guard Marly Trier each put in eight points.
The Spartans led MSOE 31-24 at halftime. The Raiders went on a 16-0 run to take a 44-37 lead with 6:20 left in the gane. Aurora was able to pull within one but MSOE went on a 12-0 run to put the game away.
MSOE (14-7, 11-4 NAC) will play their final non-conference game of the regular season at the Kern Center Thursday against Lake Forest.
