MSOE women’s soccer player Kate Hermann (Sycamore, Ill./ Sycamore H.S.) has been named to the Capital One / CoSida Academic All District First Team for women’s soccer. She was also a CoSida All District First Team selection in 2011-12
A senior midfielder, Hermann started in all 21 games played and had ten assists for the season. Herman led MSOE to a 7-5 Northern Athletics Conference record, 11-9-1 overall.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the second year of the expanded program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and doubles the number of scholar-athletes honored. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
