Raiders clinch spot in NAC Team Tournament

The MSOE women's tennis team defeated Lakeland 8-1 Tuesday afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference dual. The victory clinched a spot in next spring's NAC Team Tournament for the Raiders (6-5, 6-5 NAC).
In singles competition, senior Carol Cayo won 6-2, 6-1 at the no. 1 spot while junior Courtney Grant dropped just one game in her victory at no. 3. Senior Julie Burg was victorious at no. 4 singles to improve to 7-2 on the season while freshman Marly Trier is now 6-1 after her win at the no. 5 spot. Sophomore Ashley Albrecht swept her match at no. 6.
As for doubles, Cayo and Trier got the victory in the no. 1 position while Grant and senior Samantha Pekarscik won 8-1 at no. 2. Albrecht and Burg were winners at the no. 3 spot.
The NAC Individual Championship will take place Oct. 8-9 in Madison, Wis.
