Larson's shot puts MSOE on top against Dominican

Sophomore forward Shannon Larson hit a baseline jumper with 2.4 seconds left as the MSOE women's basketball team beat Dominican 48-46 in the Northern Athletics Conference opener for both teams. Senior center Carol Cayo led all players with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
The game was tied seven times as the issue was in doubt until the final horn sounded. Cayo went 11-15 from the field and also blocked three shots. Larson's game-winning shot was her second field goal of the game. The Stars won the NAC South last season and were picked to finish first again in 2011-12.
The Raiders (3-1, 1-0) hit the road to play Benedictine in Lisle, Ill. Wednesday at 7 p.m.
