Raiders fire back with 10-3 victory over Northland

The No. 13 MSOE hockey team scored four times in the first eight minutes of action as the Raiders defeated Northland 10-3 Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. Freshman forward Cody Ganchar recorded a hat trick in the victory.
Freshman forward Casey Moneer started the scoring with a tally at the 3:22 mark of the first. Less than a minute later, Ganchar found the back of the net. Freshman Evan Wilson got into the act with a power play goal with 14 minutes left in the period. Then Ganchar scored again about a minute later which forced Northland to call a timeout.
The Lumberjacks got their first goal in a four-on-four situation with 2:18 left in the first from Mike Lennon. In the second, senior forward Bradley Tierney logged a power play goal just 55 seconds into the frame. Ganchar then finished off his hat trick at the 8:42 mark of the second.
In the third period, Colin Moberly and Louis Labbe both scored for Northland. However, the MSOE added three goals in the period from freshman Nick LaRue, another from Keizer and one from junior defenseman Michael Thompson. The Raiders recorded five power play goals in the contest.
Freshman goalies Nick Kohn and Zack Polak combined to make 23 saves in the win. The Raiders (15-8-2) finish the MCHA regular season with a 12-6-2 record. MSOE will host Lake Forest next weekend in the MCHA Quarterfinals.
