MSOE women's basketball moves to 2-0 in NAC play after win against Benedictine

Senior guard Kathleen Collingbourne scored a career-high 19 points as the Raiders defeated Benedictine 62-53 Wednesday night in Lisle, Ill. Collingbourne knocked down four three-pointers as MSOE is now 2-0 in North Athletics Conference action. The Raiders have won four straight games for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
All four seniors on the roster played an important role in the victory for MSOE. Senior guard Marguerite Wellstein and senior center Carol Cayo each had ten points. Cayo pulled down 12 rebounds for her fourth straight double-double. She also led the team with four assists and two blocks. Wellstein had six rebounds and three assists. Senior forward Jamie Janczak chipped in nine points off bench and grabbed five rebounds in 17 minutes of action.
The Raiders trailed the Eagles 29-22 at halftime but outscored Benedictine by 16 in the final 20 minutes of action. In the second half, MSOE went on a 16-2 to take a ten-point lead with less than a minute to go in the game. The Eagles shot just 27% from the field in the second half.
Coming up on Saturday for the Raiders (4-1, 2-0 NAC), Maranatha Baptist visits the Kern Center in Milwaukee at 7 p.m.
