MSOE rowing takes second in lightweight 4 race at Dad Vail Championships

The MSOE rowing team took part in the Dad Vail Championships this weekend in Philadelphia and the squad's lightweight 4 boat took second place overall. Jon Allen, Ben Lang, Erik Winer, Luke Engebretson and Rachel Connon made up that boat for the Raiders.

The winner of the James J. Lynch Trophy was Chicago with a time of 6:54.428. MSOE had a mark of 6:56.019 in that race. The Raiders were second in a race earlier in the day on Saturday to make the finals. MSOE was less than a second away from winning that event.

The MSOE men's varsity pair boat also advanced to the finals at the prestigious event. On that boat were David Taylor and Mike Dorus. The Raiders placed sixth in the finals with a time of 8:21.456. Trent won the Bob Negaard Cup as they took the top spot in that race. To reach the finals, Taylor and Dorus finished second in the men's pair without cox race with a mark of 7:22.228.
