MSOE wrestling finishes third at Al Hanke Invitational


The Raiders placed third out of 11 teams at the 30th Al Hanke Invitational Saturday in Elmhurst, Ill. Senior Jake Naverson had the most falls in the least time at the event as he had two falls in a combined 2:13. The University of Chicago won the event with 129.5 points. 

Junior Austin Binish (3-1) at 133 pounds, sophomore Dallas Schurg (3-1) at 149 pounds and junior Caleb Staub (2-1) at 184 pounds each placed second in their weight classes. Narveson was 4-1 to finish third at 141 pounds. He won the third place bout in 49 seconds by fall over Joseph Ruettiger of Chicago. Fourth place finishers for MSOE included freshman Luke Gaeth (2-2) at 125 pounds, junior Josh Wengerter (3-2) at 149 pounds and freshman Peter Koostra (2-2) at 165 pounds. Junior Matt Ostovich (141 pounds) and sophomore Austin Karls (fifth place at 285 pounds) each went 2-2 on the day. Karls won by fall at 1:12 in the fifth place match against Jason Dalessnadro of Triton.

MSOE will take part in the Max Series DIII Duals Saturday, Jan. 21 in Crawfordsville, Ind.
