Three Raiders named to All-Wisconsin State Team for men's soccer

Three MSOE men's soccer players were named to the 2011 All-Wisconsin State Team. Senior Dan Hosko was a First Team selection while senior Michael Vanek was a Second Team selection. Senior Matt Keating earned Honorable Mention status. Hosko was selected to the First Team in 2010 as well.
Hosko was also named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America Men's Soccer NCAA Division III First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He carries a 3.77 grade point average and is an architectural engineering major.
Hosko led the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) in goals (11), assists (9) and points (31). The nine assists tied a MSOE record which is also held by MSOE Hall of Famer Jon Phillips (1998) and Hosko who had nine in 2010 as well. His 11 goals are tied for the fourth most in school history and his 31 points are tied for third. Hosko finished the season ranked 32nd and 37th among all NCAA Division III players in assists and assists per game, respectively. Also, he was a First Team All-NAC selection. In his career, Hosko logged 22 goals and 21 assists along with 65 points.
Vanek was a First Team All-NAC selection for 2011. He logged six goals on the year. Vanek also was a First Team All-NAC selection in 2009.
Keating earned Second Team All-NAC honors this season. He played in 18 games, starting in 17 of them, and collected one assist on the season. As a defenseman, Keating helped the Raiders record five shutouts.
MSOE made it all the way to the NAC title game before falling to Dominican 4-0. The Raiders shut out Concordia-Wisconsin 2-0 in the semifinals to reach the championship. Hosko scored one of the two goals for MSOE in that game against the Falcons. In the first round of the NAC Tournament, Hosko scored both of the team's goals in a 2-1 victory over Benedictine. The Raiders ended the season with a 12-8-1 overall record and went 8-3 in NAC play.
