Three Raiders named to Men’s Soccer All-Wisconsin Team; Werner Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Year

The MSOE Raiders men’s soccer team continues to be recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association as three student-athletes receive All-Wisconsin honors. The team is comprised of players from Wisconsin schools as voted on by Wisconsin coaches that are members of the NSCAA.

Senior Forward Jordan Werner (Bolingbrook, Ill./Marian Catholic High School) and Freshman Forward Logan Andryk (Hartland, Wis./Milwaukee-Marquette High School)  were first team selections, while Junior Midfielder Patrick Gathof (Beloit, Wis./Beloit Memorial) was named as an honorable mention.

Werner was recognized as the Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Year for 2012.  Returning to play after a year off as part of the MSOE study abroad program, Werner also received Offensive Player of the Year honors by the Northern Athletic Conference. Among NCAA Division III schools, he was second in the nation with 23 goals and third with 55 points overall. Those numbers translated into single season MSOE records for Werner. His nine assists on the season also ties a school record along with freshman Andryk, and former MSOE players Dan Hosko and Jon Phillips.

Andryk joins Werner as a first team selection and was the only player in the state chosen as an NSCAA All- American. In just his first season as a Raider, he had 14 goals, 9 assists and 37 points for the season. His 14 goals for the season place him among MSOE elite; fifth in goals per season, third in total points in a single season with 37 and tied with three others as the school’s single season leader in assists. Andryk garnered many honors in 2012 including being named the Northern Athletics Conference Freshman of the Year and a first team all-conference selection.

Gathof, an All-Wisconsin honorable mention, started in all 19 games played for MSOE, scoring six goals and five assists. He was an ALL-NAC Second Team member the past two seasons and an All-Freshmen Team selection in 2010.

The Raiders finished the season with a 14-5-1 overall record and 8-2-1 finish in the Northern Athletics Conference.
