For the first time in the history of the series between the two teams, No. 11 MSOE knocked off No. 4 Adrian 3-1 Friday night at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. The Raiders were winless in their first 18 games against the Bulldogs.
MSOE went on top at the 4:37 mark of the second period behind a power play goal by freshman Cole Gibson. That goal was assisted by freshman Logan Bauman and sophomore Michael Schenfeld. After Adrian tied the game with a goal from Jordan Watts just over two minutes later, the Raiders answered back later in the second. Schenfeld scored the game-winning goal with four minutes left in the period.
In the third period, freshman Josh Keizer gave MSOE some insurance with an even-strength goal at the 11:35 mark from Gibson and junior Carl Lindblad. Senior goalie Connor Toomey made 22 saves in the victory.
The Raiders (5-0, 5-0 MCHA) again host the Bulldogs Saturday at 2 p.m. in Milwaukee.
