Senior forward Jessica Axt was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III All-Central Region Second Team. Axt tied for first in the nation in total goals with 28 for the season. She is the first MSOE student-athlete to lead the NCAA in scoring in any sport.
Earlier this year, Axt was also named the Northern Athletics Conference Offensive Player of the Year for her outstanding performance during the 2011 women's soccer season. She received First Team All-NAC honors.
Axt has achieved much recognition this year from the NCAA in addition to her first place total goal honor. She finished second in the nation with 62 total points for the season, sixth in goals per game (1.333), seventh in points per game (2.95) and tied for 13th in game-winning goals with six.
She finished her four-year career with 76 goals, which is the most in MSOE and NAC history. Axt's 28 goals and 62 points are single season MSOE records.
Behind the play of Axt, MSOE had their best season ever as they set a new record for wins in a year with 13, breaking the record of 12 wins, which was set in 2008. The Raiders finished the season with a 13-8 overall record and had a 9-3 mark in conference play.
