No. 12 Raiders come up short on the road against Marian


Marian scored a short-handed goal with 1:12 left in the game to beat No. 12 MSOE hockey 4-3 Saturday night in Fond du Lac, Wis. The Sabres swept the weekend Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association series.

The first two goals of the game went to Marian as the Sabres opened up a 2-0 lead in the first period. With 20 seconds left in the period, sophomore defenseman Michael Schenfeld pulled the Raiders within one as freshman forward Cole Gibson set up the score.

In the second period, MSOE took the lead with two goals. At the 6:07 mark, junior forward Jordan Keizer tied the game. His goal was assisted by sophomore defenseman Devin Schmitt. About ten minutes later, junior forward Kevin Medina put the Raiders on top 3-2. Jordan Keizer and junior forward Bradley Tierney made the passes that led to the goal. However, in the third period, Marian scored twice to go ahead for good.

MSOE (10-5, 7-3 MCHA) faces Lawrence Friday night in Appleton, Wis. as the Raiders continue MCHA play.
