MSOE, Rose-Hulman in All Engineers Classic Final Today

Rose-Hulman topples RPI 79-45

Milwaukee, Wis. – Behind Julian Strickland’s (Indianapolis, Ind. /Pike) 23 points, the Rose-Hulman (RHIT) Fightin’ Engineers defeated the Rennsselaer Polytechinc Institute (RPI) Engineers 79-45 in the first game of the All Engineers Classic, hosted by MSOE in Milwaukee Wis.

Joining Strickland in the scoring column for RHIT, was Austin Weatherford (Cicero/Hamilton Heights) and Jon Gerken (Defiance, Ohio/Tinora) with 15 and 13, respectively. Gerken had a double-double on the night, leading all players with 11 rebounds.

Leading scorer for RPI was Tyler Gendron (Merrimack, NH / Merrimack), scoring eight for the game. Teammates Jamie Zajac (Merrimack, NH / Bishop Guertin) and Brendan Farley (Burlington, MA / Burlington) added seven points apiece.

RHIT outshot RPI 49%-29% for the game. They also won the battle of the boards 57-30 in their first win of the season. RHIT (1-0) advances to the Tournament final Sunday 3pm facing the winner of the MSOE-Caltech game. RPI will play in the consy match at 1pm.

MSOE handles Caltech

Milwaukee, Wis. – Freshmen led the way in the MSOE Raiders 81-50 victory over Caltech in the second game of the All Engineers Classic, held in Milwaukee, Wis. Forward Austin Stueck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) had 15 points while Connor Patterson (Gilbert, Ariz. /Gilbert Christian) added 13 on the night.

Leading scorer for Caltech was Pan Wang (Germantown, Md./Montgomery Blair HS ), scoring 14 in the Beaver’s loss.

MSOE outdistanced Caltech 44-23 in the first half on 55% shooting compared to the Beaver’s 28% shooting. MSOE shot 56% for the game, while Caltech was 30.6% on the game.

MSOE (1-0) advances to the Tournament final Sunday 3pm facing Rose Hulman at 3pm. Caltech (0-1) faces RPI at 1pm.
