Records fall for Raiders at UW-Platteville Invite


The MSOE track & field teams took part in the UW-Platteville Invite Saturday in Platteville, Wis. Junior Anete Zagare and sophomores Matt Waech and Mike Cosentino each broke MSOE records while senior Emily Dieringer won two events.

Waech broke the school record in the pole vault which was held by himself and sophomore Mike Cosentino. Waech's mark was 13' 10.5" to place fifth place compared to 13' 8" which was the old record. Cosentino set a new MSOE record in the high jump at 6' 1.5" which bested Alex Raver's mark set in 2008. Senior Joe Klimowicz was fifth at 5' 10.75" in that event. Waech was eighth in the 200-meter dash at 23.29 seconds.  Cosentino (9.12 seconds) placed fifth and Tim Lang (9.13 seconds) finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles.

Senior Arthur Webrog had a mark of 6.45 meters to win the long jump and placed second in the triple at 12.69 meters. Freshman Zach Ipema (11.67 meters) was third and freshman Ryan Moldenhauer (11.50 meters) right behind Ipema in fourth. Freshman Brian Janus recorded a second place finish in the mile run with a mark of 4:34.13. Junior Ben Peterson (4:38.85) was sixth and junior Jake Schneider (4:42.15) came in ninth. In the 5000-meter run, sophomore Trevor Koziczkowski (17:11.43) finished sixth. Junior Patrick DuBois had mark of 15.99 meters in the weight throw to come in second.

Senior Emily Dieringer took the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.56 which is her best mark of her caerer in that event. Dieringer also won the 60-meter hurdles at 9.49 seconds. She came in seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 2.9 meters.

In the mile run, junior Anete Zagare had a time of 5:38.80 which is a new school record to finish sixth. Zagare broke her own record which she set in 2010. Senior Amanda Heller (19:19.78) placed third in the 5000-meter run while junior Holly Phelps (20:27.65) was fifth and junior Kate Herrmann (20:51.66) came in sixth.

The Raiders head across town Friday to compete in the UWM Invite.
