Dieringer breaks MSOE record in 55-meter hurdles at UW-Parkside

The MSOE track & field team took part in the UW-Parkside Classic Saturday in Kenosha, Wis. at the Frank Petretti Fieldhouse.

Senior Emily Dieringer broke Catherine Chappell's record in the 55-meter hurdles as she ran a time of 8.78 seconds. Dieringer finished first in that event. She was second in the 200-meter dash at 27.32 seconds. Dieringer finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.05 meters.

Junior Anete Zagare had a time of 1:52.79 to place fourth in the 600-meter run. Zagare had a long jump of 4.53 meters to come in eighth in that event. Senior Amanda Heller logged a mark of 5:40.49 to place 14th in the mile run which is around four seconds behind her school record time that she had last Saturday. In the 4x400-meter relay, the Raiders came in seventh at 4:37.96.

On the men's side, junior Patrick Dubois won the weight throw with a mark of 14.9 meters. In the shot put, Dubois was fifth at 12.77 meters. In jumping events, senior Joe Klimowicz recorded a second place finish in the high jump at 1.8 meters while freshman Dan Franke was fifth at 1.6 meters. The top placer for the Raiders in the triple jump was freshman Ryan Moldenhauer who was sixth at 11.68 meters. MSOE had the top two placers in the pole vault with sophomore Matt Waech (4.11 meters) in first and sophomore Mike Cosentino (3.96 meters) in second.

Waech was less than a second away from winning the 600-meter run as he placed second at 1:26.78. Freshman Brian Janus was fourth in that event with a time of 1:28.57. Sophomore Steven Grousnick was third in the 5000-meter run at 16:14.05. Also placing third was Cosentino in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.32 seconds while senior Tim Lang was sixth in that event at 8.73 seconds.

In the 400-meter dash, junior James Franke finished ninth with a time of 54.60 seconds. As for the 4x400-meter relay, MSOE came in fourth at 3:37.05.
