MSOE wrestlers finish sixth at North Central Invitational

At the North Central College Invitational, the Raiders finished with 71 points and in sixth place among the 13-team field. Olivet won the event with 189 points, followed by Concordia-Moorhead (160.5) and Wabash (123) rounding out the top three teams.
Leading place-getter for the Raiders was freshman Luke Gaeth who went 4-2 on the day to place third in the 125-pound weight class with a decision over second seed Sean Tomac of North Central. At 165 pounds, freshman Peter Kootstra (3-2) placed fourth while junior Josh Wengerter (4-2) came in fifth at 149 pounds. Other place finishers include juniors Caleb Staub (3-2) at 184 pounds and Steve Nguyen (3-3) at 285 pounds. Staub finished fifth and Nguyen placed sixth.
Raiders head back to the mats Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Gulf Duals in Fort Meyers, Fla.
