Raiders open season with 6-1 victory over Concordia-Wisconsin

Sophomore forward Kevin LoGiudice scored twice and freshman goalie Nick Kohn made 26 saves in his debut as MSOE defeated Concordia-Wisconsin 6-1 Friday night at the Kern Center. It was the season opener for the Raiders who are coming off their first appearance in the NCAA tournament.
MSOE started the scoring with two goals in the first period with junior forward West Bauman finding the back of the net at the 12:16 mark from senior forward Bradley Tierney and junior defenseman Michael Thompson. LoGiudice was set up by West Bauman and freshman forward Casey Moneer about six minutes later.
After Franco Loparco pulled the Falcons within one just over eight minutes into the second period, the Raiders answered with a late goal in the period from senior forward Jordan Keizer on the power play. Tierney and freshman forward Cody Gancher picked up the assists.
In the third period, LoGiudice scored again at the 6:02 mark from senior defenseman Carl Lindblad. About a minute later, Thompson picked up a power play goal from Keizer and junior defenseman Devin Schmitt. Junior forward Kevin Medina finished the scoring about half through the period. Freshman Evan Wilson and Keizer logged the helpers on that goal.
MSOE (1-0, 1-0 MCHA) will face Concordia-Wisconsin Saturday night in Mequon, Wis. as they their quest to keep the Lake Michigan Cup in Milwaukee.
