Axt breaks conference record for career goals in 7-0 shutout


Senior forward Jessica Axt scored four goals, recording her 67th career goal as the MSOE women's soccer team defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 7-0 Saturday. The fourth goal broke the Northern Athletics Conference record for goals in a career.

The Raiders scored eight minutes into the game, Axt found the back of the net off a Paula Bohl pass. Axt added an unassisted goal at the 14-minute mark. Freshman Gabbie Pung added the Raiders' third goal 26:11 into the game with Bohl gathering her second assist of the game.

In the first five minutes of the second half, Axt scored her last two goals on the day, the last being the record setter, just past the 50th minute mark. MSOE added two more goals on the day; Mindy Donald from Axt at 52:15, and Pung from Mary Roth at the 74th minute of play. The Raiders dominated the game, out shooting the Warriors 24-2 in the NAC.

MSOE travels to Watertown, Wis. for a conference battle with Maranatha Baptist this Tuesday. Kickoff is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
