Karls records three falls at the Pete Willson Invitational


MSOE wrestling finished in a tie for 24th at the prestigious Pete Willson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College in Illinois. Wisconsin-Parkside won the event with 117.5 points. No team had more than two wrestlers placing first during the highly competitive weekend.

Sophomore Austin Karls (285 pounds) tied for the fourth most falls during the event with three. The fastest came in 39 seconds against Logan Andriot from Mount St. Joseph. The other two falls came in 42 and 59 seconds, respectively.

Senior Jake Narveson (141 pounds) and junior Caleb Staub (184 pounds) each had one fall. Narveson defeated Anthony Medina of New England in 2:40 while Staub beat Samuel Pennisi of Chicago in 4:25. At 149 pounds, junior Josh Wengerter had a record of 2-2.

The Raiders face Maranatha Baptist Thursday in Watertown, Wis. at 7 p.m. for their first Northern Wrestling Conference dual.
