Dieringer selected to CoSIDA Academic All America Second Team

MILWAUKEE -- MSOE women's track and field senior Emily Dieringer (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington) was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team in the NCAA Division III women’s track and field category. Dieringer is a biomedical engineering major with a 3.95 GPA.

Athletically, Dieringer completed her four-year career as one of MSOE's brightest stars. At the 2012 Northern Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, she took the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.19 and  a pair of second place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles and 100 meter dash, with times of 15.59 and 12.73 seconds, respectively. She also placed fourth in the pole vault at 2.88 meters.

Her time in the 200m dash and 100m hurdles broke school records formerly held by NCAA ALL American Catherine Chappell (2006). Dieringer is the third MSOE Student-Athlete during the 2011-2012 school year to be named an Academic All American (Dan Hosko-Men’s Soccer, Carol Cayo-Women’s Basketball). She becomes MSOE’s 14th  student-athlete to garner this award. The Academic All America team is selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the track and in the classroom.
