Senior libero Kathleen Collingbourne was named Northern Athletics Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The NAC announced their awards for 2011 volleyball season Wednesday and Collingbourne was also selected First Team All-NAC.
Collingbourne led the conference in digs (507) and digs per set (5.12). She is also the NAC's all-time leader in digs with 2,029. Collingbourne is the second MSOE player in school history to surpass the 2,000 dig mark in a career with assistant coach Theresa Narveson being the other with 2,078 career digs. She recorded at least eight digs in each match this season and was in double figures in digs for 26 of 29 matches. Also, Collingbourne had 20 or more digs in ten matches. Last season, Collingbourne received Honorable Mention status from the NAC.
Senior middle hitter Kaylie Lenz was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. MSOE finished the season with a 9-20 overall record and went 2-10 in NAC play.
