Binish competes at NCAA Wrestling championships

MSOE Senior 133 pound wrestler Austin Binish (Sturgeon Bay, WIs./Sturgeon Bay HS) competed at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, but fell short of his quest to become an All-American. Binish was one of 18 wrestlers in his weight class fighting for the eight All-American honors on Friday – Saturday March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

In his first match of the day, seventh seed Grant Sutter (18-3) of Wisconsin Whitewater won by fall over Binish. Sutter went on to finish second place in the weight class.  Binish was still alive for his chance to place and finish as high as third overall, but had to wait until the evening session to battle again.

In the Wrestle backs, Binish fought hard, but Chris Sokol of the University of Dubuque won a 3-0 decision over Binish. Binish ends his season with a 24-9 record.
