MSOE blast Lawrence 5-2
Milwaukee--The MSOE hockey team came back with a vengeance Saturday night, defeating the Lawrence Vikings 5-2 in front of 550 fans at the Kern Center.
The Raiders scored five goals off the sticks of five different players, with the eventual game winner garnered by Lee Swallow at the 17:49 mark of the second period.
MSOE had many opportunities to score, out shooting the Vikings 38-22 for the game. The Raiders capitalized on power plays, going two for nine on power play opportunities, while Lawrence came up empty handed, going scoreless on all eight of their power play attempts.
The game was a very physical and hard fought battle between the two Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association foes, with a total of 37 penalties doled out. The Raiders had 17 penalties for 56 minutes, compared to Lawrence's 20 penalties, for a total of 54 minutes in the penalty box.
Chris Keller went the distance in goal for the Raiders, collecting 20 saves and giving up two goals on the night. Evan Johnson picks up the loss for Lawrence, giving up five goals and nabbing 33 saves.
MSOE 3-1 overall, 1-1 in MCHA play, will face the University of Minnesota- Crookston in a two-game home stand next weekend. The Friday night match up begins at 7:05p.m., followed by a Saturday matinee at 2p.m.
