MSOE Hockey Beats Concordia-Wisconsin, Takes Control of Lake Michigan Cup
Milwaukee, Wis. - The MSOE Raiders hockey team beat the Concordia University-Wisconsin Falcons 4-1 on Friday night at the Kern Center. With the victory, the Raiders win the Lake Michigan Cup for the 2007-08 season. The Lake Michigan Cup was donated to the two schools this season and goes to the winner of the season series between the Raiders and Falcons. MSOE is 3-0 against Concordia this year with one game left to play.
Freshman Michael Soik (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) led the Raiders with two goals and one assists. Soik scored both of his goals in the second period. Senior Lee Swallow (Stanwood, MI/Northville) scored the first goal of the game for MSOE and had an assist on the first goal by Soik. Junior Mike Marquette (Fairbanks, AK/Lathrop) finished the scoring for the Raiders with a goal late in the second period.
Freshmen goaltender Michael Wyenn (Thousand Oaks, CA/Westlake) picked up the win for MSOE and made 13 saves. The Raiders outshot Concordia 40-14 for the game.
MSOE improves to 9-6 in MCHA games and 11-9 overall. Concordia falls to 2-13 in MCHA play and 2-18 overall. Sam Aide scored the lone Falcons' goal.
The Raiders take on the Falcons again on Saturday, February 2 at the Ozaukee Ice Center in Mequon, Wis. at 7 p.m.
