The MSOE women’s soccer team played hard, but could not hold back the number seed Aurora University Spartans, losing 3-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference semifinal round, held in Aurora, Ill.
Aurora (18-1-1 ) was led by Nicole Wolfe who scored the first two goals for the Spartans. Their third goal was at the 78 minute mark, a Brittany Roydhouse goal, uinassisited.
The Raiders lone goal came two minutes later, an Ann O’Donnell strike off a Paula Bohl pass. MSOE’s defense was tested as goalkeeper Emme Lumpe collected 13 saves for the game. The Raiders were outshot 29-5 for the game.
The fifth seeded Raiders reached the semifinals on a 1-0 defeat of fourth seeded Marian in a NAC first round contest held Saturday, October 27. MSOE finishes the season 11-9-1 overall. |
