Raiders Capture NAC Title, Bid To NCAA Championship AURORA, Ill. -- MSOE shot a championship-best 303 in the fourth and final round of the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Golf Championship and narrowly defeated Edgewood by three strokes for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship today at Stonebridge Country Club. The Raiders led Edgewood (1,246) by a single stroke after today's third round and bested the runner-up by two in the fourth round for a total of 1,243 (313-315-312-303). The split-season championship event, originally scheduled for two rounds in the fall and two in the spring, kept a four-round format, but inclement weather pushed the second round to the spring and the final 36 holes were played in a single final day. Wisconsin Lutheran (1,262) was third, Marian (1,287) fourth, Dominican (1,304) fifth and Aurora (1,340) sixth. Lakeland (1,345) was seventh, Benedictine (1,355) eighth and Concordia Wisconsin (1,363) ninth. Rockford withdrew after the first round. MSOE's Scott Loftus (77-74-76-71) shot a 10-over par for medalist honors, as his final round of 71 tied the NAC Championship single-round record. http://www.northernac.org/sports/mgolf/2012-13/releases/20130423i8au2l |
