Werner’s Two Goals not Enough to Defeat Aurora Aurora, Ill. – With two goals Jordan Werner (Bolingbrook, Ill. / Montini Catholic H.S.) returned to the score sheet for the MSOE Raiders, unfortunately, it was not enough. The Raiders lost a 3-2 decision at the hands of conference foe, the Aurora Spartans, at Vago Field in Aurora, Ill. MSOE opened the scoring when Werner tallied his first of the game and fifth of the season, in the sixth minute of the match. Robert Nogle (Antioch, Ill. / Antioch Community) assisted the goal. First half goals by Xavier Carrillo and Colby Newquist of the Spartans, gave the home side a 2-1 advantage going into the break. In the 58th minute Carrillo finished his second of the game. The Raiders responded accordingly. A long serve by Mike Skow (Mequon, Wis. / Homestead), in the 65th minute, found Werner behind the Aurora defense. Jordan finished the chance with authority. In the final tem minutes of the match, the Raiders knocked on the door, but could not deliver the equalizer. With the loss, MSOE is 4-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference. Aurora improves to 4-2 and 1-0 in conference. Up next for the Raiders is an away contest, this Tuesday September 18th, versus Concordia of Chicago in Chicago. |
