12.02.2012 :: Wrestling lands two runner-ups at MSOE Invitational
On Saturday, December 1 at the MSOE Invitational, the Raiders placed two wrestlers in the finals as the team went on to finish eighth of the eleven teams participating. Nick Miceli (Port Jefferson, N.Y./ Earl L. Vandermeulen High School) and Matt Ostovich (Greenfield, Wis./ Greenfield HS) both lost in the championship bouts, at 133# and 141#, respectively.

11.30.2012 :: MSOE Wrestling Preview 2012-2013
The MSOE wrestling team has high expectations for this season as they are coming off their first conference title since 2005. Last year’s conference title was the sixth title that the Raiders have claimed during the twenty years that there has been a conference championship tournament.

03.16.2012 :: MSOE wrestlers, team capture NWCA Academic honors
MSOE grapplers Austin Binish, Austin Karls and Mathew Ostovich were honored recently by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) as Academic All Americans. The team itself was lauded top 25 status among NCAA Division III programs, ranking 24th with a combined 3.1672 grade point average. This is the team’s tenth time in 12 years receiving this distinction.

02.26.2012 :: Three Raider wrestlers place at Great Lakes Regional
Three MSOE wrestlers finished in the top six in their weight classes at the NCAA Division III Great Lake Regional Saturday in Minneapolis hosted. The Raiders placed ninth with 41 points out of 15 teams.

02.18.2012 :: Three MSOE wrestlers take conference titles as Raiders share NWA Championship
The MSOE wrestling squad finished with 89.5 points at the Northern Wrestling Association Tournament to claim a share of the conference championship Saturday in Sheboygan, Wis. Junior Caleb Staub and sophomores Marcus Rokosh and Dallas Schurg each won NWA titles.

The Raiders took down Lakeland 27-15 at the Kern Center in a Northern Wrestling Conference dual Friday night. MSOE is now 7-5 overall this season in duals.

01.30.2012 :: Karls records three falls at the Pete Willson Invitational
MSOE wrestling finished in a tie for 24th at the prestigious Pete Willson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College in Illinois. Sophomore Austin Karls (285 pounds) tied for the fourth most falls during the event with three.

The Raiders went 2-2 at the Max Servies Duals in Crawfordsville, Ind. Saturday at Wabash College. MSOE defeated Mount St. Joseph 27-23 and UW-Platteville 28-15. Senior Jake Narveson won four matches by fall.

01.15.2012 :: MSOE wrestling finishes third at Al Hanke Invitational
The Raiders placed third out of 11 teams at the 30th Al Hanke Invitational Saturday in Elmhurst, Ill. Senior Jake Naverson had the most falls in the least time at the event as he had two falls in a combined 2:13. The University of Chicago won the event with 129.5 points.

01.09.2012 :: Raiders garner dual victories against UW-Eau Claire and Wheaton
The MSOE wrestling team opened the 2012 portion of their schedule with dual victories over UW-Eau Claire and Wheaton at the Maranatha Baptist Duals in Watertown, Wis. Saturday. The Raiders defeated UW-Eau Claire 24-15 and Wheaton 28-23 but fell to UW-Oshkosh 32-15.

Freshman wrestler Luke Gaeth was named as an honorable mention in the most recent d3wrestle.com rankings for the 125-pound weight class. At the North Central College Invitational, Gaeth entered the field unseeded but finished the tournament in third place.

At the North Central College Invitational, the Raiders finished with 71 points and in sixth place among the 13-team field. Leading place-getter for the Raiders was freshman Luke Gaeth who went 4-2 on the day to place third in the 125-pound weight class.

The Raiders hosted the MSOE Invitational Saturday at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. MSOE finished fourth out of the 11 teams which competed in the event. The top finisher for the Raiders was Austin Karls at 285 pounds who went 3-1 to place third.

The Raiders begin their season this Saturday in Galesburg, Ill. at the Knox Tournament at 9 a.m. Behind a roster of experienced wrestlers and newcomers, MSOE will look to build on their success from last season, which included their first ever victories over Wisconsin state schools, sending a wrestler to nationals and a strong finish in conference.
