Wrestling's Head Coach Morin Retires after 20 Years
Wrestling Head Coach Morin Retires After 20 Years Since 1993, Kevin Morin has been the leader, communicator and educator of the MSOE wrestling program, but it all ended today as he officially announced his retirement from coaching to his team and the university.

Binish competes at NCAA Wrestling championships
MSOE Senior 133 pound wrestler Austin Binish (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Sturgeon Bay HS) competed at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, but fell short of his quest to become an All-American.

MSOE Senior 133 pound wrestler Austin Binish will try to follow in other MSOE wrestlers footsteps and become the school’s next All American. Binish (24-7) starts his journey at the NCAA Wrestling Championships this morning as he will face seventh seed Grant Sutter (18-3) of Wisconsin Whitewater in his first bout of the tourney.

At the NCAA Division West Regional, 133 pound Austin Binish placed third to qualify for the NCAA Championships to be held March 15-16 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena in Cedar Rapids Iowa.

Three Wrestlers claim titles at Northern Wrestling Association championships; team places third
Watertown, Wis. – THE MSOE wrestling team came away with three individual champions, but placed third in the team standings at the Northern Wrestling Association Championships Saturday afternoon in Watertown, Wisconsin. The Concordia-Wisconsin, co-champions with MSOE in 2012, won the tournament with 97.5 points, followed by Lakeland with 86.5, and MSOE scoring 68 point for a third place finish

Wrestling's Binish alive to place third at Willson Invitational
Wheaton, Ill. --MSOE Raiders Austin Binish fought his way back through the consolation bracket to still be in contention for a third place finish at the nationally prestigious Pete Willson Invitational. Wrestling in the 133# weight class, Binish lost his first match to his Concordia (WI) opponent by the score of 6-5. In the consolation bracket, he won his next match in the 4th overtime period (!!) by the score of 12-10 over his opponent from Manchester College. Binish, facing the #2 ranked wrestler from Olivet College scored a fall in just 1:11 of the first round. He will continue in the consolation round in search for a finish as high as third place.

With MSOE's win over UW Eau-Claire, Head Coach Kevin Morin and the wrestling team reached their 100th dual match victory in it's 23rd year of the program. The Raiders dominated the lower weight classes on their way to the milestone win. MSOE finished the MSOE Duals with a 3-1, second only to UW-Oshkosh who had a perfect 4-0 record

Wrestling lands two runner-ups at MSOE Invitational
On Saturday, December 1 at the MSOE Invitational, the Raiders placed two wrestlers in the finals as the team went on to finish eighth of the eleven teams participating. Nick Miceli (Port Jefferson, N.Y./ Earl L. Vandermeulen High School) and Matt Ostovich (Greenfield, Wis./ Greenfield HS) both lost in the championship bouts, at 133# and 141#, respectively.

MSOE Wrestling Preview 2012-2013
The MSOE wrestling team has high expectations for this season as they are coming off their first conference title since 2005. Last year’s conference title was the sixth title that the Raiders have claimed during the twenty years that there has been a conference championship tournament.

MSOE wrestlers, team capture NWCA Academic honors
MSOE grapplers Austin Binish, Austin Karls and Mathew Ostovich were honored recently by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) as Academic All Americans. The team itself was lauded top 25 status among NCAA Division III programs, ranking 24th with a combined 3.1672 grade point average. This is the team’s tenth time in 12 years receiving this distinction.

Three MSOE wrestlers take conference titles as Raiders share NWA Championship
The MSOE wrestling squad finished with 89.5 points at the Northern Wrestling Association Tournament to claim a share of the conference championship Saturday in Sheboygan, Wis. Junior Caleb Staub and sophomores Marcus Rokosh and Dallas Schurg each won NWA titles.

MSOE wrestling finished in a tie for 24th at the prestigious Pete Willson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College in Illinois. Sophomore Austin Karls (285 pounds) tied for the fourth most falls during the event with three.

The Raiders went 2-2 at the Max Servies Duals in Crawfordsville, Ind. Saturday at Wabash College. MSOE defeated Mount St. Joseph 27-23 and UW-Platteville 28-15. Senior Jake Narveson won four matches by fall.

The Raiders placed third out of 11 teams at the 30th Al Hanke Invitational Saturday in Elmhurst, Ill. Senior Jake Naverson had the most falls in the least time at the event as he had two falls in a combined 2:13. The University of Chicago won the event with 129.5 points.

The MSOE wrestling team opened the 2012 portion of their schedule with dual victories over UW-Eau Claire and Wheaton at the Maranatha Baptist Duals in Watertown, Wis. Saturday. The Raiders defeated UW-Eau Claire 24-15 and Wheaton 28-23 but fell to UW-Oshkosh 32-15.

Gaeth receives honorable mention status in d3wrestle.com rankings
Freshman wrestler Luke Gaeth was named as an honorable mention in the most recent d3wrestle.com rankings for the 125-pound weight class. At the North Central College Invitational, Gaeth entered the field unseeded but finished the tournament in third place.

At the North Central College Invitational, the Raiders finished with 71 points and in sixth place among the 13-team field. Leading place-getter for the Raiders was freshman Luke Gaeth who went 4-2 on the day to place third in the 125-pound weight class.

The Raiders hosted the MSOE Invitational Saturday at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. MSOE finished fourth out of the 11 teams which competed in the event. The top finisher for the Raiders was Austin Karls at 285 pounds who went 3-1 to place third.
