Women's Track Preview 2009
The MSOE women’s track and field team has a nice mix of veteran leader ship and incoming freshman to strengthen the team and be competitive among the strong Northern Athletic Conference field. Coach Larry Gardner has a dozen on his roster that will help him contend for the conference title, but none stronger than senior Heather DeLany.
Heather DeLany looks to leave her mark in track, as she did in cross-country for the Raiders. She is the Raiders best hope of scoring points in both the field and running events. Delany, a four-year All Conference selection in cross-country, owns the school record in the 400 and 600-meter dash.
Amanda Heller, who was an honorable mention NAC cross-country runner in the fall, will counted on to lead the Raiders in the distance events. Sophomore Emily Schmeling will also compete to score points for the Raiders in the longer races. Also, look for freshman Emily Dieringer to leave her mark in the hurdles and the pole vault.
The NAC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be Sat., Feb. 28, 2009 at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center on the Carthage campus, hosted by Edgewood College. The 2009 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14 at Rose Hulman University in Terre Haute, Indiana.
The NAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be Friday May 1 and Saturday May 2 at Concordia University of Chicago in River Forest. Illinois. The 2009 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place May 21-23 at Marietta College, Don Drumm Stadium, Marietta, Ohio.
