2010-2011 Season Recap
MSOE junior goalie Connor Toomey (Burlington, Mass./South Shore Kings (EJHL)) was named to the Reebok NCAA Division III Men's Hockey All-American team. Toomey was a Second Team selection to the West squad. The Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) Player of the Year, Toomey tied for the lead in all of Division III with four shutouts. That mark is an MSOE record for a single season. He was fifth in the nation in goals against average at 2.01. In MCHA play, Toomey led the conference with a 1.74 goals against average. His 18 wins are a new school record and are tied for the fourth most in the country.
Joining Toomey on the MCHA All-Conference Team was sophomore forward Jordan Keizer (Edmonton, Alberta/Billings Bills (NORPAC)) while freshman defenseman Michael Thompson (Farmington Hills, Mich./Janesville Jets (NAHL)) was selected to the MCHA All-Freshman Team. Raiders head coach Mark Ostapina was named MCHA Coach of the Year for the fourth time since taking over the top spot at MSOE.
Keizer finished second in the country with 23 goals. He tied for second among all Division III players in short-handed goals with three and tied for tenth with eight power play goals. In MCHA play, Keizer scored 17 goals and had a total of 26 points.
Junior Todd Krupa (Stevensville, Ontario/Fort Erie Meteors (GOJHL)) was second on the team with 18 goals and 32 points while sophomore Bradley Tierney (Edmonton, Alberta/St. Albert Steel (AJHL)) led the Raiders with 19 assists. Senior Michael Soik (Stevens Point, Wis./Brooks Bandits (AJHL)) finished his MSOE career with 24 points this past season as he passed the 100-point mark for his career.
Nationally, the Raiders were second in penalty kill situations with a rate of 89.2% (124/139). The Raiders finished the season with a 21-6-1 overall record and 16-3-1 in conference play. MSOE was ranked in the USCHO.com Division III national poll for 16 straight weeks and finished 14th in that poll.
