2011 Season Recap

Four members of the MSOE men's tennis have earned spots on the All-Northern Athletics Conference Team. Senior Dustin Holzhauer and juniors Juan Montenegro and Mark Schadler were named All-NAC on the singles side. Holzhauer, Montenegro, Schadler and freshman Eric Klamrowski garnered NAC honors on the doubles side.

At the NAC Individual Championship in singles competition, Holzhauer reached the semifinals where he fell to Brian Tresedder of Concordia-Wisconsin who ended up winning the championship. Holzhauer was 3-1 during the tournament. Montenegro made it to the quarterfinals where he was also beat by Tresedder.

On the doubles side, Klamrowski and Montenegro reached the semifinals where they were beat by Pat Schramka and Skip Turner of Concordia-Wisconsin. Klamrowksi and Montenegro beat teammates Holzhauer and Schadler in the quarterfinals.

During the regular season, Schadler went 8-1 during NAC duals while Montenegro was 7-1 and Holzhauer was 7-2. In doubles, Holzhauer was 8-1 while Montenegro was 7-1 and Schadler was 8-1.


2011 Season Preview

The Raiders garnered all 10 first-place votes as they were picked to win the 2011 men's tennis title in the NAC preaseason coaches' poll. MSOE won their first NAC championship in 2010 after an 8-0 record in conference duals and a 10-6 overall record. The Raiders competed in the NCAA Division III Championship and lost in the first round to Carleton.

MSOE returns a solid portion of their team from last year including seniors Dustin Holzhauer and Mark Schadler. Also back in the mix are juniors Juan Montenegro and Jeff Scarpelli as well as sophomore Zach Weaver.

The Raiders' season begins Saturday, February 5 against UW-Oshkosh. MSOE's first NAC duals are Saturday, April 2 against Marian and Edgewood.
