2007-2008 Season Preview
The MSOE Men's Track and Field team will have athletes from all four classes helping the Raiders reach their goals during the 2008 season.
Senior Matt Ollayos will be competing in the shot put once again while senior John Flotterud is back to compete in the weight throw and hammer throw. Flotterud owns school records in those two events. Ollayos holds the MSOE outdoor record for the discus.
Leading the way for MSOE in the jumping events will be junior Kyle Rate, freshmen Alex Raver and Kevin Diedrich. Rate has the school indoor and outdoor records in the triple jump. In the distance events, juniors Dominic Maio, Tim Carlson, Ben Bichler and sophomore Zak Lutz will be the main cogs for the Raiders. Carlson has the MSOE indoor record in the 5000 meter run while Maio owns the school indoor record in the mile run as well two other events.
Senior Josh Uelman and junior Brian Seniuk will heading be up the sprints for the Raiders. Uelman has the MSOE indoor record in 60 meter dash as well many relay records. Seniuk owns the school outdoor record in the 400 meter run and three other MSOE track records.
Many other student athletes will be helping the Raiders during the 2008 track and field season. MSOE has plenty of depth that will be seen throughout this year.
The Raiders will be competing in the Northern Athletics Conference for the first time this season. MSOE was picked to finish fourth in the NAC Indoor Track and Field Coaches' Preseason Poll. The NAC Indoor Track and Field Championships is February 29 in Kenosha, Wis at the Tarble Athletics and Recreation Center. The Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place at Ohio Northern University on March 14-15.
The NAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships are set for May 3 at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. The DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships is May 22-24 at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
