Move in A-M

English Placement Testing
9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Multi-Purpose Room

English testing for International Students. This testing is used by the English as a Second Language (ESL) department to verify English proficiency. You would have received further information if you are required to take the placement test.

English testing will take place in the Multipurpose Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Campus Center.

Bus to Target
2 p.m. – 5 p.m., Pickup outside of Campus Center

Did you forget something at home? Well if you did, no need to worry! A bus will transport you to and from Target so that you can get those last minute college essentials!

If you are looking to get crafty and make your space more home-y, check out our “College Hacks” page to get great ideas!

The buses will be picking up and dropping off from in-front of the Campus Center.

Residence Hall Welcome Dinner
5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., Roy W. Johnson Residence Hall Cafeteria

Join us for Residence Life’s opening carnival-themed dinner to kick off the beginning of the year and meet the Dean. Stop in with your floor to enjoy pretzels with cheese, corn dogs, BBQ pork sliders, funnel cake fries, a build your own cream puff station and more!

Gather with your floor to meet everyone, talk about your floor community, and get your ready for Welcome Week. Look for signs on your floor to find out where and when your meeting is.

Registration
10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Kern Center Field House and Kern Arena

Join us in the Kern Center Arena for the Welcome Address. Here you will get to meet your Peer Assistant and be assigned to a group with other students. Your Peer Assistant will bring you and your group to and from many of the scheduled events and will be able to answer any questions you may have about MSOE and the Milwaukee area.

If you are curious, check out the Peer Assistants at the “Meet your Peer Assistant” page. Here you can find the major, interests, and advice from all of the Peer Assistants.

Learn to Row
1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m., Leaving from the Kern Center to the Boat House

Are you interested in learning how to Row? If so, come to the Kern Center at 1 p.m. and take a bus to the Boathouse, where Coach Chuck will teach you the ins and outs of Rowing.

There is a limited number of spots available, so please RSVP by clicking on “Register for this Session”. Registration will open at 8:00 am on Saturday, Aug. 27th 2016.

Math Placement Tests
1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Walter Schroeder Library

Math placement tests are used to verify math class placement. You would have received further information if you are required to take the math placement test.

Math testing will take place in the Walter Schroeder Library (various classrooms).

Kern Center Open Gym
1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Kern Center Ice Arena & Lobby

Check out many great opportunities that the Kern Center and MSOE have to offer (i.e. MSOE sports teams, Club sports, and Intramural sports). There will also be a variety of activities such as open skate, run/walk on the beach, rowing, and many more.

This will take place in the lobby of the Kern Center, as well as on the Lower Level 1 (LL1).

Run/Walk at the Beach
1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Bradford Beach

Join the cross country coach at the beach to run/walk along the water.

Video Game Trucks, Trolley, and Bags Tournament
1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Milwaukee Lot B

Play a variety of console games in decked out Video Game Trucks. Consoles include PlayStation, Xbox, and Wii. The trolley ride provides an opportunity to discover the Milwaukee area around MSOE.

This will take place in Milwaukee Lot B (parking lot next to Roy W. Johnson Residence Hall).

Quiz Master/Welcome Dinner
5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Kern Center Field House

Kick off Welcome Week with a dinner and show in the Kern Center Field House! Dinner will consist of a Taco and Nacho bar, with soda, lemonade, and water as refreshments. Quiz Master will be providing the entertainment by running a trivia game show.

The top three teams and the team with the best name will receive prizes!

Comedy Sports Night
8 p.m. – 11 p.m., Kern Center Arena

After dinner, come down to the Kern Center Arena for a laughter- filled night with Comedy Sportz, an improv comedy show that invites audience participation. This act follows the same style as Whose Line Is It Anyway.

Accelerated Nursing Orientation

International Laptop Pick-up
10 a.m., Campus Center 2nd Floor

Pick-up will take place on the 2nd floor of the Campus Center. Make sure to bring your student identification card.

Peer Assistant’s Tell All
10:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Kern Center Field House

Learn how to be successful here at MSOE from your Peer Assistant. Use this time to learn the ins and outs of campus and make sure to ask lots of questions.

Meet in the Kern Center Field House to start, and then you will be broken up into your individual groups.

Laptop Pick-up
10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Campus Center 2nd Floor

Pick-up will take place on the 2nd floor of the Campus Center. Make sure to bring your student identification card.

PA Led How To Info Sessions
2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Multi-Purpose Room, Todd Wehr Auditorium, K125/127, S341

Peer Assistants will walk you through using Outlook, connecting to MSOE printers, as well other important computer-based platforms.

Title IX Training
1 p.m. and 4 p.m., Multi-Purpose Room, Todd Wehr Auditorium, Alumni Partnership Center, S341

Title IX training consists of college safety and sexual assault awareness training.

Transfer Student Orientation, Laptop Pick-up, and Social
5 p.m. – 10 p.m., Todd Wehr Auditorium

This is the only required event for Transfer Students. This session will include Laptop and Student ID pick-up, parking information, and dinner with a trivia competition.

Sign Making
6 p.m. – 7 p.m., Campus Center Great Room

Come to the Campus Center 3rd Floor to make a sign for the Men’s Soccer Game. During the Soccer Game, the Dance Team will pick their favorite sign, and that group of students will receive a prize.

Soccer Game
7 p.m. – 9 p.m., Viets Field

Come cheer on your MSOE Men’s Soccer game. During half time, the MSOE Dance Team will perform and pick their favorite sign.

The soccer game will take place on Viet’s Field, located on top of the parking structure.

Food Trucks
8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (Rain date is 9/1), Old Athletic Field

After the Soccer Game, head on over to the outdoor movie. There will be food trucks parked on the Grass Athletic Field for you to grab dinner. MEAT on the STREET and Burger Meister will be selling a variety of food and beverages.

Outdoor Movie – 22 Jump Street
9 p.m. (Rain date is 9/1), Old Athletic Field

“The Koreans bought the church back, so we had to move across the street… to 22 Jump Street.” That’s right, the outdoor movie on the Grass Athletic Field will be 22 Jump Street! Enjoy an action packed comedy with your two favorite undercover police officers, Schmidt and Jenko!

Don’t forget to grab some popcorn!

Community Cookout and Class Photo

Come to Cathedral Square in your groups to take part in your Class Photo! Afterwards, there will be a backyard BBQ catered by Saz’s located in the Werwath Mall (Between Science building and Library). Faculty and Staff will also be in attendance, so be sure to meet your faculty.

If you have any food restrictions, let the catering service know and they will provide you with extra options.

Calculus Review – EEX

This optional Calculus review session is available for AAS-EET to BSEE transfer students to ask questions on the Calculus review materials that were sent in latter June.  Dr. van Groningen (MA3502 instructor) will lead the session.

Join the Brothers of Delta Sigma Phi as they host the 10th annual Casino Night. Games for all, including Blackjack, Poker, Craps, Roulette, and more.

AAS-EET to BSEE Transfer (EEX) Track Program Orientation

This required session is the orientation for the EEX track in the BSEE program. The agenda includes Student & Faculty Introductions, MSOE Mission & Program Objectives, Logistics, Academic Expectations, and Discussion (possibly a panel discussion with current EEX students). All new full-time and part-time EEX students should attend. Dr. Strangeway and Dr. Chandler, the EEX Program Advisors, will lead the session. EEX students, don’t miss this session!

Women’s Connection Dinner
5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m., Todd Wehr Auditorium

Co-hosted by Lambda Zeta Nu, this dinner allows incoming women to meet other women around campus. There will be a keynote speaker, and the opportunity to mingle with women focused organizations on campus.

MSOE has over 70 student run organizations on campus, including professional orgs, special interest, religious, service, and Greek. Getting involved in an organization is a great way to get to meet new students around campus and make friends that last a lifetime.
