A team of Milwaukee School of Engineering students has been working hard to design a LEGO replica of Lambeau Field. Their plans will come to life during Green Bay Packer Training Camp (July 31- Aug. 4) when they’ll gather in the Lambeau Field Atrium to construct the replica in front of Packers fans.
The 13’x’15 Lambeau Field replica will be built from more than 130,000 multi-colored LEGOs and features:
- Working scoreboard
- Interior and exterior architectural details
- Field, complete with players
Earlier this year, the students travelled to Green Bay, Wis., to begin their build strategy. They took photos of Lambeau Field from various areas, used to complete the build blueprint, in addition to utilizing Google Earth. The blueprint helped the students determine sizing and how many LEGOs would be needed to complete the replica.
On July 31 the LEGO pieces will be delivered to Lambeau Field to begin construction. The replica of Lambeau Field will be completed by Aug. 4 in the Atrium of Lambeau Field.
“This is a fun and exciting project for members of MSOE’s Architectural Engineering Institute student group,” said Mike McGeen, the group’s advisor and professor in the Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management Department. “The LEGO Lambeau Field is another opportunity for the students to practice their design, scheduling and estimating skills.”
The Lambeau Field LEGO replica is being sponsored by Pick ‘n Save/Copps, Kemps Dairy and DiGiorno Pizza.
