One thing you’ll never hear an MSOE student say is that they’re bored. There is always something happening on campus. Our students study hard and our Student Activities Department makes sure they also have the opportunity to play hard. Student Activities works very closely with the Student Union Board (SUB) and Greek Council (fraternities/sororities) to plan a number of events and programs throughout the year. Some of the major annual events include:
Welcome Week – A week filled with fun and informational activities for freshmen and new students to become acquainted with MSOE, meet new friends, find their way around campus and get settled in before classes begin.
Constitution & Citizenship Week – Every September we set aside a week to celebrate the U.S. Constitution with a variety of events.
Greek Recruiting Weeks – The first three weeks of Fall Quarter are your opportunity to meet the students who make up MSOE’s fraternities and sororities, which offer social, intellectual, professional and philanthropic opportunities, that complement and enhance academics at MSOE.
Parents/Family Weekend – Each October we invite parents and families back to campus to spend time with you. With a variety of free events, it’s a fun, relaxing weekend and a great chance to catch up with your loved ones.
Quiz Bowl – Think you know it all? Gather your friends and put your trivia knowledge to the test during one of MSOE’s time-honored traditions.
St. Patrick’s Week – St. Patrick is the patron saint of engineers, so it is only fitting that every year since the 1930s we have celebrated the holiday with great enthusiasm.
Last Lecture –Each year a retiring MSOE faculty or staff member is provided the opportunity to pass on his or her knowledge and life-experiences to the campus community. The purpose of the series is to recognize that person, and for those in attendance to learn what the speaker truly believes are the most important facets of his or her life experiences.
