International Business

img-ib-photos1-2006Our future is subject to the forces of innovation, globalization and technology. Our challenge is to succeed under these conditions. International business at MSOE prepares you for that challenge.

Now more than ever, business operates on a global scale. U.S. businessmen and women are working with—or for—companies from other countries. Those who work in international business need to know the customs of other cultures, and knowing a second or third language is a great benefit to your career. The international business (IB) program is a four-year program of study built on MSOE’s rich tradition of integrated technology and lab practice, using the tools of your trade.

A cornerstone of MSOE’s IB program is the required one-year study abroad during your junior year. You’ll study at Lübeck University of Applied Sciences in Lübeck, Germany, where you’ll take courses with students from Lübeck and the following year, they’ll come here. You’ll also receive degrees from both schools, and never miss a beat, so you’ll graduate on time.

In addition to international experience, gain a strong foundation in business and management while having the option to specialize in one of the following concentrations:

  • Marketing
  • Information Technology (IT) Systems
  • Operations and Logistics

The results

The average placement rate for business and management graduates was 89% in 2012-13, while the average starting salary was $53,581.

The field

All of the skills you gain at MSOE—including a strong foundation in business theory, international experience, foreign language experience and improved communication abilities—you’ll put to work starting day one of your career. Help domestic companies expand overseas, work as part of international and cross-cultural teams and understand the challenges of doing business in multiple markets.
